Keeping staff and students safe with rapid testing

Posted by: , Posted on: - Categories: COVID-19 support, Reducing risk

“Throughout the process, we found communication to be key. We sent letters, emails and texts to make sure everybody was kept up to date. We couldn’t have predicted how fantastic it feels to know that all of our safety measures have been effective, and to know that parents can be reassured that school still is a safe place to be.”

“It’s amazing how quickly this has become part of the norm here at Shoreham Academy in making sure all our staff and students are safe.”

Shoreham Academy in West Sussex and Bay Leadership Academy in Lancashire, explain in the videos below how rapid COVID-19 testing has benefitted their staff and students. They share their experiences of leading the setup of testing, which aims to reduce transmission by helping to find cases from those not displaying symptoms, making up around a third of all cases.

Tips include following comprehensive government guidance on set up, communicating with those involved through multiple channels, and incorporating testing into day to day school activity. Full guidance on asymptomatic testing in schools and colleges is available on gov.uk.
